INTERNET ACCESS &TRANING PROGRAM (IATP)

The INTERNET CENTER an initiative of the Project Harmony Inc., offers broad opportunities for the use of digital communication technologies in science, culture and education and encourages the creative use of Internet.
This Center was launched in March 2001 on the basis of the American Educational Information Center for the US Educational Exchange Program Alumni, sponsored by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, State Department, USA.

SERVICES

The INTERNET CENTER is:
Offering OPEN ACCESS to Internet, the priority is given to the Sponsored Program Alumni;
Organizing EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM and THEMATIC SEMINARS devoted to the Internet Technologies;
Advertising Grant Competitions, sponsored by the Project Harmony Inc., within IATP and other programs.

GRANT COMPETIONS

Grant competitions advertised by the INTERNET CENTER are intended to support academic and professional information project in Internet and to organize the Educational Programs in the use of the Information Resources of Internet Global Computer Network, will be of great interest to a broad auditorium and will facilitate free and open communication between citizens and organizations in international information exchange programs.

THEMATIC SEMINARS

Thematic Seminars are determined by the Project Harmony Inc. Activities within the Internet Access Training Program (IATP): new information technologies and the Internet Global Network.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

The INTERNET CENTER offers all US Sponsored Program alumni and all Project Harmony Inc. grantees a series of educational programs in the use of information resources of Internet Global Computer Network:
Introduction to practical work with information in the Internet;
Introduction to PCs and Software;
Introduction to professional work with Internet Information Resources;
Introduction to design of a Personal Web page, Internet Resources.

OPEN ACCESS

INTERNET CENTER offers Open INTERNET Access and is open to all those who have some experience of working in the Internet. The priority of Open INTERNET Access is given to the US Sponsored Educational Exchange Program Alumni. INTERNET CENTER has daily 5 hour access open from10:00 a.m. till 2: 00 p.m. Operator-consultant is on hand to provide assistance to less experienced users. Those wishing to attend must book a place in advance.

LOCATION

The INTERNET CENTER is located in the Scientific Library (SL) of the Tomsk State University (TSU). The INTERNET CENTER is one of four INTERNET CENTERS in Tomsk, opened within the Regional Initiative in the Tomsk Region. INTERNET CENTER has a multipurpose auditorium equipped with modern network and computer equipment: 10 working stations with video web cameras to organize teleconferences that permanently linked to the Internet and a tutor's workstation equipped with printer, scanner and projector.
