TSU together with 16 other leading academic institutes of Tomsk, Novosibirsk and Moscow is carrying out the project "Academic University".
It aims at the further intensification of integration of the academic process and the scientific research and training educational and research elite among the brightest students. There are centers of research and education established within divisions of TSU that give students, post-graduate students and professors an opportunity to conduct experiments on unique and sophisticated equipment.

Course papers and diploma projects written at NII SO RAS are considered to be both original and relevant and are very often later developed into future candidate dissertations. The aim of the existing system of continuous personnel training is to develop scientific schools and to select, educate and employ gifted young scientists.
